Why a Food Dehydrator is Perfect for Hunters

Hunting and spending time outdoors can do miracles to improve your health. Instead of spending your day glued in front of the TV while consuming junk food, why don’t you work out by spending your day taking walks while breathing fresh air and enjoying the scenery?

If hunting is already an interest, then you should purchase a food dehydrator. It will give you a great deal of advantages!

How frequently have you tried going home with more good catch than you can actually manage? If the hunting went great, we very often end up with a problem - how to deal with all the catch? If you have a dehydrator, it is possible to preserve anything. You can try fish and all sorts of sorts of meat. If your spouse likes greeting-card making, she could also use the device for drying flowers, leaves and ferns and use these to style and design the cards with.

I have constantly used a dehydrator to produce fruit leathers for my children, and so I suggested it to a hunter friend of mine. After tagging two elks and a dear one day, he proceeded to dehydrating the meat in his new machine. He ended up with plenty of jerky, so he sold a few to family and friends. He continued doing it, till the jerky he sold covered for the food dehydrator and also for his hunting licenses.

How quick can it be to make a jerky by using a dehydrator? Real quick.

Just cut the meat into pieces and place it in a casserole dish. Pour soy sauce over the meat or you can also use barbecue sauce, Worcestershire, beer or maybe even wine - whatever you like. Add pepper, lemon, onion and garlic to add flavor to the marinade. Marinate the meat for around 4 hours by putting the dish in the fridge. Dehydrate the meat as outlined by your food dehydrator’s manual.

Why not just buy jerky from your grocery? That’s a great question.

First, they cost a lot more. It does not take a genius to understand that everything from the supermarket is more expensive than if you make or grow them yourself.

In addition, you don’t have control over the flavour of the jerky. Making the jerky at home allows you to make it sweeter or saltier - whatever your choice is.

Lastly, and the most important - commercialized jerky contains all types of preservatives. Don’t even make me start on the negative impacts these preservatives bring. When you make the jerky at your home, you’re sure that the meat doesn't contain any preservatives and they’re as healthy as they possibly be.
